Jason Underwood
Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Underwood´s life-long pursuit in real estate has lead to the development of Whiterock REIT. Jason´s first job out of university was with his family´s development company where he spent time as a construction manager and learning the fundamentals of accounting. From there his career path took him through real estate development, acquisitions, and finance. After gaining considerable exposure to major aspects of the real estate industry, Mr. Underwood spent a couple of years at Credit Suisse in New York in the real estate investment banking group where his practical industry knowledge was complemented with capital markets experience. Mr. Underwood then spent two years at Perry Capital in New York in their real estate private equity group where the global investment mandate of the platform opened his eyes to the opportunities in the Canadian marketplace. In 2005 Mr. Underwood moved to Toronto full-time to launch Whiterock and since that time has overseen the platform growth from a start up to what it is today.

Currently Mr. Underwood, his wife, son and dog live on a farm and enjoy the "back-to-basics" lifestyle of a small Ontario farming community.

Mr. Underwood is a graduate of Cornell University.

Kursat Kacira, C.A.
Chief Financial Officer

Kursat joined Whiterock REIT as Chief Financial Officer in June 2011. Prior to joining Whiterock REIT, Kursat was Vice President & Director in the Real Estate Group, Investment Banking at TD Securities Inc. in Toronto, where he worked for the previous 9 years. Kursat is an accomplished professional with over 17 years of real estate, finance, capital markets, and accounting experience both in Canada and the United States.

Kursat's extensive professional background, which spans investment banking (TD Securities Inc. in Toronto and Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. in New York) and public accounting (Price Waterhouse in Toronto), provides a unique and valuable foundation for Kursat's role at Whiterock REIT. In the Canadian capital markets and real estate industry, Kursat established himself as an investment banker with a strong reputation and track record for delivering superior results to clients, with an unwavering commitment to integrity. Notably, Kursat served as Whiterock REIT's trusted lead investment banker over several years while at TD Securities Inc., prior to joining Whiterock REIT.

Kursat is a Chartered Accountant (Ontario), has a Master of Business Administration (Dean's Scholarship) from New York University, and a Bachelor of Mathematics (Honours) from the University of Waterloo.

Stephen Smith
Senior Vice President, Operations

Steve, a recent addition to the Whiterock team, brings more than 25 years of experience within the commercial real estate industry. Prior to joining Whiterock, Steve had a 16 year career at Oxford Properties, most recently in the capacity of Vice President, National Programs. While at Oxford, Steve worked in several different roles which provided him with broad exposure and involvement in Leasing, Marketing & Strategy, Building Operations, Quality Management, as well as a variety of IT-related projects. Prior to joining Oxford, Steve held positions in asset management with Royal Trust and commercial real estate brokerage with Cushman & Wakefield. His diverse experience, positions him well to help guide the continued growth of Whiterock. Steve is a graduate of The University of Toronto.

Ken Shelley
Vice President, Leasing

Ken joined Whiterock REIT as Vice President of Leasing in July of 2010, in part to bring his knowledge and expertise to the multi-million dollar procurement of the Toronto based portfolio that was his former direct responsibility. Ken has worked extensively with commercial real estate, primarily in the private sector, holding senior positions overseeing all aspects of commercial endeavours, from the operations stand point through to client placement/lease negotiations. This broad base experiences, coupled with an engineering background provides an unique overview of lease negotiations and was instrumental in growing a privately held company commercial holdings from small beginnings, into a plus 1 billion dollar portfolio over a 12 year time span. Ken has a very client focused mind set , strives to understand client needs and brings an entrepreneur vision to the leasing initiatives.

John Langton
Vice President, Leasing

John joined Whiterock REIT as Vice President of Leasing in April, 2011. Prior to joining Whiterock REIT, John had accrued over 25 years of valuable commercial real estate experience at both Royal LePage Commercial and Cushman and Wakefield. As Vice President of Office Leasing, John worked as a Landlord representative for companies such as H&R REIT, Sun Life, Bentall, Gentra, Crown Properties and Transglobe. He was pivotal in securing major clients through extensive marketing and tactical lease negotiations. John is well recognized and respected by his peers in both the brokerage and capital market industries and his relationships will provide a strong coalition between Whiterock REIT and the brokerage community across Canada.

Kimberly Tam
Vice President, Finance

Kimberly joined Whiterock REIT as Vice President, Finance in May, 2011. Prior to joining Whiterock, Kimberly was Director of Finance at Retrocom Mid-Market REIT, where she oversaw corporate finance, financial reporting and taxation since 2008. Prior to Retrocom, Kimberly worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers' corporate tax group in Toronto, where she provided tax consulting services to clients primarily in the financial services industry. Kimberly began her career in corporate accounting at a private real estate development firm based in New York City. Kimberly is a Certified Public Accountant.

Esam El-Makkawy
Director of Corporate Finance

Since joining Whiterock REIT, Esam has worked on a number of acquisitions, and has been involved in evaluating and executing debt restructuring transactions. In addition, Esam oversees the investor relations function and is responsible for financial forecasting and analysis.

Prior to joining Whiterock REIT, Esam worked at TD Securities, a Toronto-based investment bank, where he was an integral member of a highly-ranked institutional equities research team. Previously, Esam was an associate in the institutional equities group at UBS Securities in Toronto.

Esam holds an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and a B.Sc. (Honours) from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He is a Certified Management Accountant (Canada).

Maureen MacMillan
Director of Property Accounting

Maureen has overall responsibility for the accounting and financial operations of the Property Accounting Group. She possesses a strong financial acumen which has been demonstrated throughout her 25 year career in property accounting.

Prior to joining Whiterock REIT, Maureen worked at Arcturus Realty Corporation, Canada's leading independent manager of third party real estate assets, where she was an integral member of the senior management team and was responsible for client financial reporting across the country. Previously, Maureen was Senior Property Controller for O&Y Enterprise. Maureen is an active member of Toronto Commercial Real Estate Women (Toronto CREW) where she serves as Treasurer.

Kim Yam
Director of Property Accounting

Kim Yam is the Director of Property Accounting of Whiterock Real Estate Investment Trust. In this capacity Kim helps oversee the Property Accounting Group including implementation of Policy and Procedures that relate to this group.

Prior to joining Whiterock in June 2010, Kim was a Regional Accounting Manager at First Capital Realty responsible for consolidating financial reporting, budgeting and overseeing the functions of the accounting team.

Kim is a graduate of Northwood University in Michigan (BBA).

Mike Ytsma, B.sc, CET, BES
Director Technical Services & Sustainability

Mike’s real estate career began in 1987 with Standard Life and has worked with several development and property management companies in his career. Mike has progressively held more senior roles in administration, property management, operations and technical services. Mike joined Whiterock REIT in October of 2010 and is currently responsible for technical services and sustainability within the Whiterock REIT portfolio.

Gary LePage
Director of Real Estate

Gary LePage joined Whiterock REIT as Director of Real Estate in 2010. Prior to joining Whiterock REIT, Gary was a General Manager for EPIC Realty Partners Inc. where he was responsible for the management of a 1.5 million square foot office portfolio.

Gary has also worked at national organizations such as Standard Life, Oxford Properties and Manulife Financial where he held various positions including Building Operator, Operations Supervisor, Operations Manager and Property Manager. During his career progression, Gary completed numerous capital projects which resulted in decreased operating costs and has implemented and standardized operations protocol in each property that he has managed. Key career accomplishments include receipt of the BOMA Outstanding Building of the Year award (TOBY) for Consilium Place in 2001, the Certificate of Excellence for Parkway Place in 2003 and Atria in 2010, the Earth award for Manulife Financials global head office in 2007, and the Go Green Certificate of Excellence for Atria and 50 Minthorn Blvd. in 2009.

Mr. LePage has studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick, has earned the Systems Maintenance Administrator designation from B.O.M.I. and is in the process of completing the Real Property Administrator designation.

Jaret Bilich
Director of Real Estate

Jaret Bilich joined Whiterock REIT in January 2010 as a Senior Property Manager and moved to Director of Real Estate in June 2010. Prior to starting at Whiterock REIT, Jaret worked for Oxford Properties. There he held various positions including Building Operator, Operations Supervisor, Operations Manager and was responsible for a portfolio of over 2 million square feet.

Throughout his career, Jaret has had the opportunity to complete many capital projects resulting in decreased operating costs and building improvements. He received a Go Green Certificate of Excellence at Brookfield Place in 2009 and has been involved in numerous sustainability initiatives at all his properties.

Charles Chung
Director of Acquisitions

Charles Chung is the Director of Acquisitions at Whiterock REIT. In this capacity Charles oversees the acquisitions process from initial underwriting to takeover of the assets. Charles also is actively involved in the asset management of Whiterock’s existing portfolio and equity financings. Prior to joining Whiterock in 2008, Charles was a senior property accountant at CREIT and Avison Young responsible for financial accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategically enhancing NOI and returns.

Andrew Reial
Director of Asset Management

Andrew Reial is the Director of Asset Management at Whiterock REIT. In this capacity Andrew is responsible for adding value to the Whiterock portfolio. Prior to joining Whiterock in 2010, Andrew was a member of the Asset Management group at Bentall LP.

Andrew is a graduate of the Schulich School of Business (MBA) and is a Certified Management Accountant.

David Burchill
Property Manager

David joined Whiterock REIT as a Property Manager in June 2010. In this capacity he is responsible for overseeing the operations of office buildings located in Toronto and Mississauga.

Prior to his position at Whiterock, David worked for Unicco Facility Services managing the maintenance of the 2.4 million sqft. Brookfield Place in Toronto. Prior to Unicco, David acted as Operations and Security Manager for Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) for over ten years. His primary role was to operate the Air Canada Center to ensure the facility was well maintained, clean and safe to host the 260+ events each year. At MLSE, he also spent time on the construction team for the building of both BMO Field (Toronto FC) and Oshawa GM Center (Oshawa Generals).

David is a graduate of Texas A&M University and Public Assembly of Facility Managers School in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Zelka Vazdar
Property Manager

Zelka joined Whiterock REIT as Property Manager in January of 2011. Prior to joining Whiterock REIT, Zelka was Property Manager for Agellan Capital Partners overseeing a portfolio of 19 buildings in the southern Ontario region.

Zelka also worked for Cadillac Fairview at the Toronto Eaton Centre in Tenant Relations and Property Operations. Her accomplishments include the restructuring of the Service Centre which manages the daily operations for over 4.6 million square feet of both Class A office and retail space. Prior to the Toronto Eaton Centre Zelka was the Guest Services Manager at the Woodbine Centre.

Zelka has over 12 years of diverse commercial real estate experience and is currently working towards her RPA designation.

Sara Stewart
Sr. Property Manager

Sara joined Whiterock REIT in February 2010. Previously the Property Manager for CB Richard Ellis, Scotiabank Revenue portfolio, Sara brings with her an acute knowledge of Tenant Services and building operations. With over eleven years of experience, Sara has focused the last three years implementing energy efficiency programs in her buildings. Sara currently manages a portfolio of office industrial and retail properties with concentrations in the Toronto and Ottawa CBD.

Sara is actively involved in BOMA and is currently working towards her Bachelor of Commerce at Ryerson University.

Greg White
Property Manager

Greg joined Whiterock REIT as Property Manager in 2010. Prior to joining Whiterock REIT, Greg was Senior Facilities Manager for CB Richard Ellis on the ORC account and supervised projects for over 3 million square feet at Queen’s Park.

Greg also worked for Trammel Crow Corporate Services on the IBM account for 6 years and was a member of the team that completed the construction of the IBM software development lab in Markham. His roll included the overseeing the construction of the new lab, managed the set-up of operations, the infrastructure supporting raised floor, operations staff, contractors, budgets, capital projects and energy efficiency measures. He also worked as the Assistant Property Manager on the IBM account at 3500 Steeles Avenue East.

Prior to Trammel Crow, Greg worked for Standard Life as a Building Operator, Operations Manager and Assistant Property Manager for 10 years.
